Taking Care Board of Social Witness

Advisory Group for Republic of Ireland

A Taking Care Advisory Group for the Republic of Ireland was set up in 2008. The aim of this group is to look at child protection issues specifically for congregations within the Republic of Ireland. This group is represented on the Taking Care Committee. Members of this group represent the Presbyteries of Donegal, Monaghan and Dublin. Meetings are held twice a year, usually in Monaghan. If you are interested in being part of this group then please contact Deborah.

At a recent meeting of the Advisory group, on 23rd January 2010, it was agreed to target congregations where leaders did not attend the 2009 Training Roadshow. These congregations have been sent letters, inviting them to organise training for the leaders in their own congregations or to join up with a neighbouring congregation. Once training dates have been arranged they will be advertised in the Training Calendar.

The Advisory group are looking for two more Volunteer Taking Care Trainers – one for Donegal area and one for Monaghan Presbytery. If anyone is interested, please contact the Office and we would be delighted to hear from you.
