Taking care is a small yet dedicated team operating within the Board of Social Witness. You can view the profiles of the key staff members below.

Director of the Board of Social Witness, Lindsay Conway

Lindsay is a registered social worker, having worked in the Training School System and Juvenile Justice Board and been Director of Juvenile Justice and then Director of Custodial Development. Lindsay joined the Presbyterian Board of Social Witness in 2002. He is Clerk of Session of West Church Bangor - former Chair of the Simon Community and former Chairman and President of the National Council of YMCA’s. Lindsay is married to Norma, they have two grown up children and a dog called Bonnie.



Taking Care Administrator, Amanda Cotter

Amanda is a born and bred Ballymena girl, whose life is devoted to serving God through pouring love and protection upon His children. Amanda studied at Ballymena Academy Grammar School, and upon completing her education, went on to work with adults with learning disabilities, and later proceeded to a role in management, before coming to work in the Taking Care Office. Amanda volunteers in her own church with children aged from 1 to 11 every Saturday and Sunday morning and is not afraid of getting her hands dirty!!



Taking Care Co-ordinator and Trainer, Geoff Marshall (Covering Maternity Leave)

Geoff is the new addition to the Taking Care team (February 2010), holding the reins while Deborah avails of maternity leave. Coming from a policing background he has considerable experience with children and young people and also has recently enhanced this experience by working with the Leaving Care Service at Barnardos. Geoff and his wife Heather are actively involved in church life at Wellington Presbyterian Church, Ballymena. They have two sons, the youngest of whom has just got married. Outside of work Geoff likes to keep fit by playing football, golf, and a little bit of jogging. The whole family are avid Manchester United fans!



Taking Care Co-ordinator and Trainer, Deborah Webster (On Maternity Leave)

Deborah studied at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland before completing her teacher training in Newcastle upon Tyne where she taught in a large inner city Primary school. Deborah worked at the Vine Centre, North Belfast as a family worker before joining the Board of Social Witness in 2006. Deborah and her husband, Lachlan are actively involved and members of Glengormley Presbyterian Church. When not ‘Taking Care’, Deborah enjoys cooking, Kick-boxing and eating chocolate!
